The Lost Souls
"The Lost Souls" is a surreal first-person narrative adventure game. The player awakens on the mysterious Island of the Lost Souls, an enigmatic realm suspended in the clouds and teeming with strange phenomena. Through exploration and message decoding, players must uncover clues and prove their worth to the island’s guardian in their quest for escape and salvation.

Game Mechanics
Chat-Based NPC Interaction
Developed interactive dialogue systems with user input.
Collectible Items
Integrated collectible wings that enable flying and tokens with hidden messages.
Moving Platforms
Programmed and animated platforms with simple movement patterns.

Different transitions between game scenes.

Designed and implemented AI-controlled agents for dynamic immersion.

Developed object generation within the game environment.
Level Design
An essential part of the aesthetic in The Lost Souls is its surrealism. To enhance this, HDRP post-processing techniques, including water simulators, fog, and various visual effects, were extensively utilized to achieve the final look.
Unity Terrains, ProBuilder and Blender played a key role in the world-building process. Additionally, multiple playtesting sessions were conducted to ensure that the player’s pathway was both intuitive and challenging, while remaining engaging and enjoyable.

NPCs
What would it be like to give agency to NPCs?
In The Lost Souls, the island’s ancient guardian, who knows the secret to escaping, can only be swayed if the player proves their understanding of the island’s cryptic messages. This mechanic not only requires players to demonstrate their enlightenment but also allows them to express themselves in their own words.
I achieved this by integrating OpenAI's ChatGPT API into the project.

3D Models
All 3D assets used were modeled in Blender. Textures and shaders were imported from free copyright sources.
